The Kannada film KD The Devil, featuring Sanjay Dutt in a pivotal role, did not perform well at the box office and has now been scheduled to premiere on the OTT platform JioCinema. The movie, which was released in 2026, is set to start streaming on 5 June 2026.
In the film, renowned actor Dilip Shankar Devaraja Rao plays the lead, while Sanjay Dutt portrays the main antagonist. The movie also included a dance number by Nora Fatehi, which sparked controversy over its lyrics and led to the song being edited out of the final release.
Financially, the film was a disaster. Its estimated budget was ₹100 cr, but it managed a net collection of only ₹19.53 cr and a gross collection of ₹23.30 cr. The overseas earnings were a mere ₹0.75 cr, bringing the worldwide total to ₹24.05 cr.
Despite its commercial failure, the film will now find a new audience on JioCinema, creating a second chance for viewers to see Sanjay Dutt’s performance.
For context, Sanjay Dutt has been part of other successful projects, such as Dhurandhar 2, which grossed over ₹1800 cr and remains in theatres, and the film “Aakhri Sawal,” a tribute to the 100th anniversary of RSS, which did not make a significant impact.
