Siya Shukla from Thane has secured 90% in Maharashtra HSC 2026 exams. A remarkable achievement, honestly, given what she’s been through.
At the age of 10, Siya was diagnosed with glaucoma. Doctors told her family she would soon turn blind. That prediction came true. At age 13, when she was about to be in ninth grade, she turned completely blind.
She dropped out of school after that. Took a break from studies, stayed at home for nearly a year. “That period developed a void within me and I began feeling depressed,” she said. “I didn’t know braille and I didn’t know how to use technology as a blind person.”
But she knew she had to persist. With help from the National Association for Blind, she enrolled to take her class 10 board exams again. She scored 88 per cent that time.
Now, she’s done it again. HSC 2026, 90%. While several students across the city secured high scores at their HSC Class 12 boards, Thane’s Siya Shukla achieved this despite developing blindness halfway through her schooling journey.
The road wasn’t easy. Her family tried a number of medical routes, even ayurveda, but nothing helped. She had to start from scratch, learning to navigate a world without sight.
Her story is spreading now. And if you look closely at what she accomplished, it’s not just about the percentage. It’s about refusing to give up when everything seemed lost.
