In IPL, a team earns 2 points for every match win. Generally, securing around 16 points virtually guarantees a playoff spot. After all league stage matches conclude, the top 4 teams with the most points qualify for the playoffs.

The points table system works as follows:
Each match win awards 2 points to the winning team. If a match gets abandoned due to bad weather or other reasons, both teams receive 1 point each. The team finishing first on the points table gains a significant advantage in the playoffs. The top-placed team gets two chances to reach the final – if they win Qualifier 1, they directly advance to the final. If they lose, they get another opportunity against the Eliminator winner.
