The Bollywood action film Dhurandhar 2, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, was released in theatres on 19 March. Two months later the makers prepared an OTT launch, with the film already available worldwide on Netflix, except in India.
Initially, Jio Hotstar was slated to stream Dhurandhar 2 between 15 May and 16 May. The platform, however, never confirmed that date and has now decided to hold the launch for 20 days after the 2026 IPL final. This move is aimed at avoiding a clash with the massive popularity of the league.
According to worldwide box‑office figures, Dhurandhar 2 has grossed ₹1,847 crore globally, surpassing the original Dhurandhar, which earned ₹1,300 crore and became the second highest‑grossing Indian film. The new film will boast a raw and uncut version for viewers.
IPL 2026 is set to finish on 31 May. Following the conclusion, Jio Hotstar will hold a grand premiere for Dhurandhar 2 on 4 June, with the streaming service opening for audiences on 5 June. Fans of the film will therefore have to wait a bit longer to watch the action on OTT.
Key actors in the movie include Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, A.R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, Arjun Rampally, and Rakesh Bedi. The decision to postpone the OTT release reflects the strength of IPL viewership and the strategic timing of prime content on Jio Hotstar.
