‘Karuppu’ keeps rolling in theatres. The film is now being called one of the biggest Tamil releases of the year after crossing the ₹200 crore mark.
On 24 May 2026 the star walked into a press‑and‑fan meet in Chennai. He looked emotional. He said he wanted to thank everybody in person for making the film a hit.
During the talk Suriya spoke about director RJ Balaji. “Everything went well from the first meeting itself. It was completely RJ Balaji’s vision,” he said. He also gave a shout‑out to producers Prakash and Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures for backing the project.
The actor highlighted the film’s response not just in Tamil Nadu but also in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Ireland, Australia, the UK, the US and Dubai. “When we get the same reaction everywhere, we feel we are doing something right,” he added, his voice shaking a little.
Fans shouted for a sequel. Suriya smiled, laughed and replied, “Let’s see, sir.” No confirmation, no denial – just a promise that the conversation isn’t over.
He also mentioned that one key song was completed almost five months after the final cut because the team felt it was essential for the climax’s emotional weight. The actor said the whole crew worked with “complete passion and love for cinema”.
Aside from the speech, Suriya’s look became a hot topic. He arrived in a black shirt, dark denim jeans and a neatly trimmed beard. Photos and videos of his appearance started trending on social platforms within minutes.
He closed by thanking every cast and crew member, saying true happiness comes from seeing audiences celebrate together inside the theatre.
