Air India Plane Crash: UN's help will not be taken in the investigation of Ahmedabad plane crash, India rejected the proposal

India has rejected the offer to include a UN investigator in the investigation of the Air India plane crash that took place on June 12 in Ahmedabad. According to Reuters, India rejected the offer to grant observer status to the United Nations aviation agency (ICAO). Indian officials have not commented on this.

India has rejected the United Nations’ demand to include an investigator to assist in the investigation of the Air India plane crash that took place on June 12 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Reuters quoted sources as saying that India would not allow this. Some security experts had criticized it for the delay in analyzing the black box data.

India rejected the UN offer

Let us tell you, after the incident of 260 people dying in the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, the United Nations aviation agency had offered one of its investigators to India to provide assistance in the investigation.

Earlier, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) had deployed investigators to help in some investigations, such as the investigation into the disappearance of a Malaysian plane in 2014 and then the investigation of a Ukrainian jetliner in 2020. However, both times assistance was sought from the agency.

Reuters quoted sources as saying that ICAO had asked for observer status to the investigator present in India, but Indian officials rejected the offer. This news was first reported by Times Now.

Data downloaded from black box

India’s Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) has not commented on this. India’s Civil Aviation Ministry said on Thursday that investigators have downloaded flight recorder data, nearly two weeks after the accidents.

Earlier, security experts had also raised questions about the lack of information about the investigation, including the status of the combined black box found on June 13 and the second set found on June 16.

When will the report be received?

Questions were also raised on whether the recorders would be read in India or in the US? Earlier this week, an official of the Indian Aviation Ministry, speaking on the condition of anonymity, said that the department was following all the protocols of ICAO. Let us tell you, most air accidents happen due to multiple reasons and the preliminary report is received about 30 days after the accident.
