    RBI Governor: In the viral post, former RBI Governor Shashikant Das is being named and it is being said, ‘There will be a heavy penalty for keeping an account in two banks.’

    RBI Governor: It is normal to have more than one bank account in today’s time. Many people choose a different bank for salary and a different bank for savings. There may be other reasons, but it is normal. Now a post is being made viral on social media, in which it is being claimed that a penalty will be imposed for keeping an account in more than one bank. However, the truth was revealed in the investigation.

    Claim of imposing penalty
    This viral claim related to the bank has been mentioned in the post made on Sunday on the X handle of Press Information Bureau. In the viral post, former RBI Governor Shashikant Das is being named and it is being said, ‘There will be a heavy penalty for keeping an account in two banks.’ It was further said, ‘

    This is the truth
    PIB has termed this claim as fake. The post said, ‘In some articles, this misconception is being spread that according to the new guidelines of the Reserve Bank of India, now a penalty will be imposed for keeping an account in more than one bank. RBI has not issued any such guideline. Beware of such fake news.’ PIB said, ‘This news is fake. RBI has not issued any such guideline regarding imposing penalty for keeping an account in more than one bank.’

    New RBI Governor
    The government on Monday appointed Revenue Secretary Sanjay Malhotra as the 26th Governor of the RBI. He has been appointed RBI Governor for three years from December 11. Malhotra, a 1990 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of Rajasthan cadre, will replace Shaktikanta Das. Das’ term ends on Tuesday i.e. December 10, 2024.
