Maharashtra Caste Certificates: Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis said that if people of any religion other than Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh religion have obtained Scheduled Caste certificate, then it will be canceled. Along with this, strict action will be taken against them.

Maharashtra Caste Certificates: A big news has come out for the people of Maharashtra. State CM Devendra Fadnavis has announced that if the Scheduled Caste certificate has been obtained in an incorrect manner, it will be canceled. The CM said that if any person other than Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh religion people has an SC certificate, it will be canceled. In the Legislative Council, the CM said that if anyone has taken advantage of reservation in government jobs, action will be taken against him as well. The CM said that if any person has won the election using that certificate, it will also be canceled.

CM Devendra Fadnavis further said that if someone is forcibly converting someone, then preparations are being made to bring strict provisions to deal with it. A decision will be taken soon in this regard. Responding to an attention motion in the Legislative Council, Fadnavis said that the state government had constituted a committee under the chairmanship of the Director General of Police to give recommendations regarding dealing with such cases and it has submitted its report. He said that the government will study this report. After this, necessary changes will be made, so that forced religious conversion can be curbed.

Recovery will be made from those who take wrong advantage
CM Devendra Fadnavis made it clear that if anyone has received government benefits or salary by fraud, then the amount will be recovered from them by the government. The CM reminded of a Supreme Court decision on Scheduled Caste Certificate. He said that on November 26, 2024, the Supreme Court has made it clear in its decision that Scheduled Caste reservation can be availed only by people of Hindu, Buddhist and Sikh religions. Apart from these, people of other religions cannot avail this benefit.

Anti-conversion law will be implemented
Before CM Devendra Fadnavis, Minister of State for Home Pankaj Bhoyar had said on Monday that an anti-conversion law will be introduced in the winter session of the state assembly. It will be more stringent than similar laws in other states. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Amit Gorkhe claimed that ‘identity-concealing Christians’ are misusing religious freedom. People take advantage of reservation under the Scheduled Caste category but follow other religions. He said that on the surface these people are from the Scheduled Caste. They take advantage of reservation in government jobs, use it during elections but secretly follow a different religion.

BJP leader and independent member of Legislative Council Chitra Wagh said that there have been many such cases where the husband has married by deceit by hiding his religion. She told a case of Sangli where a woman was married into a family that secretly followed Christianity. Chitra also claimed that the woman was tortured and forced to change her religion, due to which a seven-month pregnant woman committed suicide.

Fadnavis said that any person can follow his religion. Can change religion at his own will. On the other hand, if someone is forced to change religion, deceived or given any kind of temptation, then the law does not allow it.
