Saturday turned into a heat‑fest for most of Maharashtra. The Vidarbha region? Absolutely blistering.
Bramhapuri, in Chandrapur district, registered the highest maximum temperature in the state – a scorching 47.1 °C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). That made it the hottest spot in Maharashtra.
Other stations in Vidarbha weren’t far behind. Chandrapur logged 46.2 °C, Amravati 45.4 °C, Wardha 45.5 °C and Nagpur 45.0 °C. Several places even crossed the 44 °C mark.
Meanwhile, Pune’s story unfolded differently. The city saw moderate rainfall and comparatively cooler conditions. That contrast is pretty stark when you look at the numbers.
Mumbai, for reference, recorded 34.7 °C on the same day. So, while the coastal belt stayed warm, it was nowhere near the extreme scores of Vidarbha.
That’s the picture from the latest IMD update on 24 May 2026. No surprises there, just a clear split between a sweltering east and a rain‑kissed west.
