During this visit, PM Modi will inaugurate the Navi Mumbai International Airport, dedicate Phase 2B of Mumbai Metro Line 3 to the nation, and launch several new projects. He will also launch the country’s first integrated common mobility app, Mumbai One, and address the gathering. On the second day, PM Modi will host British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. The Prime Ministers of both countries will participate in the sixth edition of the Global FinTech Fest at the Jio World Centre in Bandra East. He will also deliver an address at the fest.
What time will the PM arrive in Mumbai?
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive in Navi Mumbai at 3:30 pm on Wednesday, October 8, where Governor Acharya Devvrat, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol, Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar, Minister of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Lok Sabha MP Shrirang Barne, along with public representatives and various dignitaries will be present. Upon arrival in Navi Mumbai, he will inaugurate the first phase of the Navi Mumbai International Airport at 3:30 pm.
Inauguration of Phase 2B of Mumbai Metro Line 3
After inaugurating the first phase of Navi Mumbai Airport, the Prime Minister will inaugurate Phase 2B of the Mumbai Metro Line 3, extending from Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade, constructed at an estimated cost of approximately ₹12,200 crore. With this, he will dedicate the entire Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Aqua Line) to the nation, costing more than Rs 37,270 crore.
Launch of “Mumbai One”
Prime Minister Modi will also launch “Mumbai One,” a unified common mobility app for 11 public transport operators (PTOs) across the metro, monorail, suburban railway, and bus routes. These include Mumbai Metro Lines 2-A and 7, Mumbai Metro Line 3, Mumbai Metro Line 1, Mumbai Monorail, Navi Mumbai Metro, Mumbai Suburban Railway, Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST), Thane Municipal Transport, Mira Bhayandar Municipal Transport, Kalyan Dombivali Municipal Transport, and Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport.
STEP for Skill Development Also Inaugurated
Prime Minister Modi will also inaugurate the Short Term Employability Programme (STEP), a flagship initiative of the Department of Skill, Employment, Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Maharashtra. This program will be launched in 419 government ITIs and 141 government technical high schools and is considered crucial in linking skill development with industry requirements to enhance employability.
