What sections were imposed on Nihal Modi
Under Section 120-B and 201 of the Indian Penal Code, Nihal Modi is accused of criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence. Investigative agencies believe that Nihal deliberately tried to mislead the investigation by being involved in the scam.
Fraud in America too
Nihal Modi was already an accused in another case in America. He took diamonds worth about $2.6 million (Rs 21 crore) from LLD Diamonds USA saying that he would sell them to Costco. But later he took a loan by mortgaging the diamonds and sold the rest at a huge discount. His name has come up in cases related to the PNB scam in India. It is alleged that he helped his brother Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi and was involved in a scam of Rs 13,000 crore.
