The Tamil hit ‘Karuppu’ keeps pulling crowds. After racking up about ₹200 crore, Suriya showed up at a Chennai press‑meet on 24 May 2026. He looked emotional, thanked fans, and basically said he wanted to meet everyone personally.
He spoke highly of director RJ Balaji. “From the first meeting I believed in RJ Balaji’s vision,” Suriya said, adding that the film’s vibe was all about that vision. He also tipped his hat to producers Prakash and Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures for backing the project.
According to Suriya, the response wasn’t just local. Audiences in Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Ireland, Australia, the UK, the US and Dubai were cheering too. “When we get the same reaction everywhere, we feel we are doing something right,” he said, his voice a bit shaky.
When the floor opened for a sequel question, fans roared. Suriya smiled, chuckled and replied, “Let’s see, sir.” No firm yes or no – just a laugh and a shrug.
He also mentioned the effort behind the climax and songs. One key song was finished nearly five months after the edit because the team felt it was essential for the emotional punch.
Style-wise, Suriya turned heads. He arrived in a black shirt, dark denim jeans and a neatly trimmed beard. Pictures of his look flooded social media within minutes.
Wrapping up, he thanked every cast and crew member, saying real happiness comes from making people happy and watching audiences celebrate together inside theatres.
