Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray on Friday said that if Hindi is made compulsory from class one to five in schools in Maharashtra, his party will close the schools. He said this at a rally in Mira Bhayander. He cited CM Devendra Fadnavis’ statement in which he had said that three language policy will be implemented in the state.
The government had to withdraw the decision
The Maharashtra government had decided a few days ago that Hindi will be compulsory as the third language in Marathi and English medium schools from class 1 to 5 in the state. But many organizations and political parties including MNS and Shiv Sena (UBT) strongly opposed it. After this the government had to withdraw its decision. Raj Thackeray gave his reaction on this matter. Raj Thackeray also said that he has no problem with any language. But he will not allow any language to be imposed forcefully.
Raj Thackeray also warned traders
A few days ago, MNS workers had beaten up a shopkeeper in Mira Road for not speaking Hindi. The video of which went viral on social media and the echo of this incident was heard all over the country. Traders had taken out a rally against this. Raj Thackeray also warned the traders in the rally in Mira Bhayander and said that there are Marathi traders here and if we do not buy anything from you, then what will you sell?
