In a sharp political clash in Tamil Nadu, AMMK General Secretary TTV Dhinakaran has filed a criminal complaint alleging that MLA S Kamaraj sent a forged support letter to the Governor on behalf of the ruling Tamil Maanila Katchi (TVK). The accusation follows claims that the letter was not genuine and was presented without the MLA’s consent.
Dhinakaran, who represents the state’s political landscape, stated that the alleged letter was forwarded to the Governor by TVK. He has taken the matter to the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Guindy Range) and is filing an FIR against the TVK that he believes has disseminated a falsified document.
Contrastingly, TVK has released a video featuring MLA Kamaraj, who claims he wrote the letter voluntarily and with the approval of AMMK’s secretary. In the video, Kamaraj expresses his willingness to support TVK, stating that he had written the letter after a discussion with Dhinakaran.
The dispute emerged after the formation of the new state government where TVK, led by T. V. K. Thalapathi Vijay, secured 108 seats in the 234-seat assembly, falling short of a majority by ten seats. During the post‑election period, TVK sought support from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) partners to form a coalition government.
The AMMK has maintained that it remains firmly in the NDA and has not backed TVK. Their claim that the support letter was fabricated is part of a broader political narrative, as the newly elected MLA is currently reported to be staying at a Puducherry resort with newly elected AIADMK members.
Legal proceedings are underway, and the case revolves around the authenticity of the letter sent to the Governor. The political ramifications will likely impact the coalition dynamics in the state’s 23‑seat assembly.
