AMMK Calls Tamil Nadu Support Letter Fake, FIR Filed After TVK Video

Tamil Nadu’s political scene is getting messy. And the latest flashpoint? A support letter. Or what AMMK says is a fake one.
AMMK party chief TTV Dhinakaran has gone on record saying the letter reportedly sent by their only MLA, S Kamaraj, to support Vijay-led Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam — that’s TVK — is forged. Kamaraj represents the Manamargudi assembly segment. Dhinakaran, the party’s general secretary, posted on X saying his party stands firm on its position and will not back TVK.
He said they are with the NDA. Period.
Now here’s where it gets interesting. Dhinakaran visited the assistant commissioner of police office in Guindy Range and lodged a criminal complaint. His claim is that TVK presented a forged copy of Kamaraj’s support letter to the Governor. An FIR has been registered in connection with this.
On the other side, TVK isn’t sitting quiet. The party released a video of MLA Kamaraj himself, where he claims he wrote the support letter voluntarily and happily, with the AMMK general secretary’s permission. The video is doing rounds online.
You’ll notice the timing matters here. TVK, under Vijay’s leadership, won 108 seats in the assembly election held on April 23. But they fell short of a majority by about 10 seats. Vijay had reached out to allies — CPI, CPI(M), and VC K, DMK — seeking support to form the government. CPI and CPI(M) have backed Vijay. VC K is expected to announce its decision soon.
There are 234 assembly members across the three allied parties, with two legislators each in the house.
AMMK’s position, according to Dhinakaran, is that they remain committed to the National Democratic Alliance and won’t change sides. He also dismissed media reports about Kamaraj extending support to TVK, saying Kamaraj is currently staying at a resort in Puducherry alongside newly elected members of AIADMK.
So yeah, the support letter dispute is adding fuel to an already tense political situation in Tamil Nadu. And both sides are digging in.
