LPG Price update: Home Minister's budget will be ruined again, LPG prices changed again

In April, it was Rs 1,762. This means that the rates have decreased by a total of Rs 55.5 in two months, while the rates have decreased by Rs 14.5 in one month.

There has been a significant change in LPG gas prices from May 1, 2025. There has been no change in the price of a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder, but the price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder has been reduced. This will be a big relief for hotels, restaurants and other businesses.

The new price of a 19 kg gas cylinder in metro cities like Delhi has become Rs 1,747.50. In March 2025, the price of the same cylinder was Rs 1,803 and in April it was Rs 1,762. This means that the price has been reduced by a total of Rs 55.5 in two months, while the price has been reduced by Rs 14.5 in one month.

Who will benefit from this?

This cylinder is used in commercial places like hotels, restaurants, cafes. Therefore, if the gas price decreases, there is a possibility of a reduction in the price of food in these businesses. As a result, ordinary consumers may also benefit indirectly.

New commercial gas prices by city (19 kg)

  • Delhi: Rs 1,747.50 (earlier Rs 1,762.00)
  • Kolkata: Rs 1,851.50 (earlier Rs 1,868.50)
  • Mumbai: Rs 1,699.00 (previously Rs 1,713.50)
  • Chennai: Rs 1,906.00 (previously Rs 1,921.50)
  • Domestic cylinders became expensive on April 7

A month ago, on April 7, 2025, the government had increased the price of a 14.2 kg domestic gas cylinder by Rs 50. This increase was also applicable to Ujjwala scheme beneficiaries. As a result, Ujjwala beneficiaries now have to pay Rs 553 for gas, while other consumers have to pay Rs 853.

Domestic LPG rates by city

  • Delhi: Rs. 853.00
  • Kolkata : Rs.879.00
  • Mumbai: Rs 852.50
  • Chennai: Rs 868.50

Commercial gas is cheap, domestic gas is expensive.

Prices for domestic use are still stable, but LPG gas has become cheaper for commercial use. This may lead to some reduction in prices in places like hotels and restaurants, but domestic gas prices remain high. The relief provided by the government is currently limited to commercial use only.
