Madras High Court orders anti‑piracy protection for ‘Peddi’

The Madras High Court stepped in on 28 May 2026, issuing an anti‑piracy order for the upcoming Telugu film ‘Peddi’. Justice V Lakshminarayanan heard the case in the evening and passed the interim protection.
Producers of ‘Peddi’ had approached the court, worried about illegal uploads, copying or transmission of the movie online – both before and after its release. They argued that a leak could dent the huge investment made in production and promotion.
After reviewing the documents and evidence, the bench noted the massive spend on the project and the potential financial loss if the film were pirated. Consequently, it granted an interim injunction.
The order bars unknown individuals, websites and online platforms from uploading, sharing, copying or distributing ‘Peddi’ without permission. It also includes an “Ashok Kumar order”, a provision that lets filmmakers act quickly against unidentified pirates.
The injunction will remain in effect for four weeks. The matter is scheduled to be heard again after that period.
‘Peddi’ is a sports‑action drama directed by Buchi Babu Sana. The cast includes Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Divyenndu, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Ravi Kishan, Boman Irani and others. The film is slated for a 4 June release.
