JioHotstar and Colors have teamed up to roll out “Bhojpuri Bawaal”, a first‑of‑its‑kind “follow‑reality” series. The show will trail some of the biggest names in Bhojpuri entertainment – Pawan Singh, Dinesh Lal Yadav (Nirahua), Amrapali Dubey, Kajal Raghwani and even politician‑turn‑actor Tej Pratap Yadav.
Unlike conventional reality TV, there are no planned tasks, no eliminations, no dramatic vote‑offs. The cameras simply sit in the background, capturing day‑to‑day moments. It’s an attempt to let viewers see the person behind the star – the fame, the family pressure, the rivalries, the celebrations and the grind that comes with superstardom.
Alok Jain, Head of Hindi & English Entertainment Business at JioStar, said JioHotstar is “India’s home for unscripted programming” and that this new format pushes innovation further. He added that Bhojpuri entertainment “is one of the most vibrant forces from the Hindi heartland” and that the show aims to bring its scale, emotion and authenticity to a broader Indian audience.
The makers teased the series on social media with a caption that roughly translates to “When it’s about Bhojpuri heart and swagger, Bawaal is guaranteed…”. They also posted a short clip featuring Nirahua and Amrapali Dubey.
“Bhojpuri Bawaal” will be available exclusively on JioHotstar and will also air on Colors TV. A precise launch date has not been confirmed yet.
Stay tuned for more updates as the show approaches its debut.
