CGHS New Rules: A big news has come out for central government employees. Now it will be very easy for central employees to get treatment. In fact, the Union Health Ministry has recently made many important changes in the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS). The Union Health Ministry said that during treatment, upload geo-tagged photos on the website.
This step has been taken due to increasing concerns of fraud. Its purpose is to bring transparency in the billing and admission process for IPD and OPD services. If these rules are not followed properly, the hospital claim may be rejected. Therefore, it is important for central government employees and pensioners to understand these new rules carefully and follow them.
Now you don’t have to upload photos every day
According to the news published in Business Standard, earlier in December 2024, it was directed that in in-patient (IPD) cases, it would be necessary to upload the geo-tagged photo of the patient on the CGHS portal every day. Similarly, in OPD cases also, the photo of the same day will have to be uploaded. This step was taken to prevent fake claims. But now the ministry has given relief in this and has eased the rules to some extent. Now it will not be necessary to upload the Geo Tagged i.e. location photo of the patient on the portal every day during treatment. A copy of this new order will also have to be attached with every such case. Along with this, the case will have to be submitted again on the portal.
Know when and how to upload photos
According to the new rules, it will now be mandatory to upload geo-tagged photos at the time of admission and discharge of the patient in non-referral IPD cases. If the patient is admitted to the hospital for more than 7 days, then a geo-tagged photo will have to be uploaded after every 7 days. According to the report, the photo should be taken from a smartphone or tablet. Geo-tagging should be done automatically in it. This photo has to be uploaded on the CGHS portal at the same time or within 24 hours. The file size of a photo should not exceed 1MB, so that there is no network problem. Hospitals will have to keep all these photos saved for at least 90 days, so that they can be provided for investigation when needed.
