While digital transactions are being promoted across the country, a big decision has come from Nagpur in Maharashtra, which has increased the concern of people who go to petrol pumps daily. Drivers who fill petrol by scanning mobile are now going to face difficulty, because digital payment has been banned at all petrol pumps in Nagpur. Yes, if you live in Nagpur and use online payment to fill petrol or diesel, then this news may bother you.
Now fuel will be available only by cash in Nagpur!
Vidarbha Petroleum Dealers Association has announced that from May 10, 2025, digital payment will be completely stopped at all petrol pumps in Nagpur. This simply means that now you will have to carry cash to fill petrol or diesel, otherwise you will not get fuel. At present, people pay through Paytm, Google Pay, PhonePe, card etc., but this facility will be stopped in a few days. Petrol pump operators have already started alerting customers.
Why was such a big decision taken?
This decision has not been taken due to any technical fault or government order, but has been taken because of the petrol pump owners being fed up with cyber fraud. Association President Amit Gupta said that in the recent past, such cases have been coming to the fore where people get petrol filled by showing fake or fraudulent digital transactions.
After this, they file a false complaint on the National Cyber Crime Portal that their money has been deducted, due to which the bank accounts of petrol pump owners get frozen. Due to this, the operation of petrol pumps has been greatly affected. Dealers suffering losses in business will no longer accept any kind of digital payment and will only approve cash payments.
Impact on common people
This decision may prove to be inconvenient for lakhs of people of Nagpur, especially those who do not keep cash and have become accustomed to UPI. Travelers and people associated with delivery services may face the most problems.
Relief for the general public
On the other hand, a relief news has come on Thursday morning for the general public who is constantly facing the brunt of inflation. There has been no increase in the prices of petrol and diesel in the major cities of the country – Delhi, Noida, Gurgaon, Lucknow, Chandigarh and Patna. At the same time, a slight decline has also been recorded at some places, due to which everyday commuters and drivers have definitely felt some relief.
In Delhi today, petrol remained stable at Rs 94.77 and diesel at Rs 87.67 per liter, while the price of CNG also remained stable at Rs 76.09 per kg. In Noida, petrol is being sold at Rs 94.87 and diesel at Rs 88.01, in Gurgaon petrol is being sold at Rs 95.07 and diesel at Rs 87.96.
Similar stability is also being seen in other cities like Chandigarh, Lucknow and Patna. Although petrol prices are still above Rs 105 per liter in some South Indian cities like Thiruvananthapuram, this stability of prices in the rest of the country has come as a big relief for crores of consumers.
