A 4.7 magnitude earthquake struck Hingoli in Marathwada, Maharashtra, on Saturday morning, causing tremors in nearby districts of Nanded, Parbhani, and Yavatmal. The earthquake occurred at 8:45 am, with its epicenter located 10 kilometers below the earth’s surface in Hingoli. The tremors were felt in several areas, including Hingoli city, Vasmat, Aundha, and Kalamnuri talukas.
The earthquake was moderate in intensity, but it caused panic among residents, with some reporting cracks in their house walls. However, no significant damage or casualties have been reported so far. The district administration and disaster management teams are on alert and are monitoring the situation.
This is not the first time that the region has experienced earthquake tremors. In the past, similar tremors have been felt in the region, including a 4.4 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Yavatmal district on July 11, 2021. Experts say that the region is prone to earthquakes due to its geological location, and residents should be prepared for such events.
