Pak was scared after Balakot
The fear after the strike by the Indian Air Force in Balakot haunted it so much that it started purchasing air defense systems in a hurry. China gave its friend Pak air defense systems in the name of the world’s most modern weapon. But they did not work. In which 9 LY -80 LOMADS systems have also been given. The biggest example of this is the supersonic cruise missile Brahmos fired by mistake. On 9 March 2022, a missile was fired from Ambala, which covered a distance of about 100 km in India and traveled 105 km more in Pakistan and fell in Mian Channu of Khanewal in Punjab province. Pakistan did not even get a whiff of it. A day later, the Pak Army gave information about it by briefing on it.
388 defects in 9 systems
After the Modi government came to the center in 2014, Pakistan’s concern seems to have increased further. For example, Pakistan had hurriedly purchased 9 LY-80 LOMADS air defense systems from China in the year 2014. Pakistan’s concern increased further after the arrival of this system. The reason is that so many flaws started coming out in the systems that were taken from China that it was shocked. Pakistan had handed over a list of flaws to China. A total of 388 different flaws were included in that list. Of these, 103 were new defects while 285 defects had already been sent to China. Out of these, 255 defects were such that the Pakistani army had to plead with China to get them fixed.
China handed over 6 air defense systems in 2019
The air defense system was delivered by China to Pakistan in 2015-2016. 6 systems were handed over to Pakistan in the year 2019. According to the intelligence report, out of these 6 systems, the 3 that were included in the 96 LOMAD regiment had the most faults. Which could not be repaired yet. The biggest reason behind this is the lack of spare parts and the absence of a technical assistant team. A total of 9 systems have been handed over to Pakistan.
Cannot even track Indian missiles
Pakistan officially inducted this air defence system in its army in 2017. It is claimed that this system can target any missile or fighter jet coming from a height of 15 metres to 18 kilometres at a maximum distance of 40 kilometres. The radar installed in this air defence system is said to be able to intercept enemy missiles and fighter jets from a distance of 150 kilometres. India has a plethora of all kinds of supersonic missiles and ballistic missiles. When they are in the air, their radars cannot see them. Their speed is so high that Pakistanis can only see them falling on the ground.
