After nearly 20 years, Uddhav and Raj Thackeray were seen together on stage. United for the respect of Marathi language, they opposed the three language formula and warned the government that attempts to impose Hindi will not work.
Raj Thackeray-Uddhav Thackeray: During a historic rally in Mumbai, the two political branches of the Thackeray family, which were following different paths, were seen together on one stage again. After almost 20 years, Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray came together and attacked the BJP government fiercely while talking about the respect of Marathi language and culture from the stage.
‘What Balasaheb could not do, Fadnavis did it!’
Raj Thackeray said in the rally, “After almost 20 years, I am standing on the stage with Uddhav. Devendra Fadnavis did what even our Balasaheb could not do, bringing me and Uddhav together.” He claimed that the three-language formula of the government was not just a conspiracy to impose Hindi in schools, but a plan to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra.
He said that Balasaheb Thackeray was definitely educated in English, but he never compromised with Marathi language.
Uddhav’s attack: Will not let Hindi be imposed
Uddhav Thackeray also attacked fiercely and said, “If Hindi is imposed on us, we will take to the streets. We will not allow any attempt to divide Mumbai and Maharashtra in the name of language. We are together again, ready to fight!”
‘We are goons, but for justice’
Raj Thackeray said that when there is injustice in the name of language, we will also do ‘hooliganism’. Uddhav said, “We are accused of asking people to speak in Marathi on the streets. Yes, if we have to do this for our language and identity, we will not step back.” He said, “If we have to do hooliganism for justice, we will do it. Our strength is on the streets, in your assembly.”
Raj Thackeray said that the three-language formula was just the beginning. “If the public had accepted it silently, the next step would have been to separate Mumbai from Maharashtra. Now the public has given the answer.”
Sharp attack on the BJP government
Uddhav Thackeray said why are people migrating from states where Hindi is spoken? “If Hindi would have led to development, why would people leave UP-Bihar and come to Mumbai?” Raj said that the government did not even consult education experts, this is just the arrogance of power.
Supporters of both the parties were present in the rally. Once again the Thackeray brand shined on the stage. Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Anand Dubey said, “This is not a political agreement, but a voice of Maharashtra’s respect.”
This sharing of the stage is not just a linguistic issue but a big political message. Is this the beginning of a new innings of the Thackeray brothers or just unity on a limited issue? Its effect will definitely be seen in the upcoming elections.
